Born and raised in rural Illinois, Crouch was immersed in an artistic environment from an early age. His father, an artist, and his mother, a preschool teacher, nurtured his creative inclinations. He pursued formal education in art, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Western Illinois University in 2009. Crouch continued his studies at Bradley University, where he obtained a Master of Arts and a terminal Master of Fine Arts degree.
In 2021, Crouch joined the faculty at Cameron University in Southwest Oklahoma, where he teaches drawing, painting, and printmaking. His academic role allows him to share his passion and expertise with a new generation of artists, fostering their development while continuing to evolve his own artistic practice.
Crouch’s work evokes a visceral response and prompts deeper consideration of the dynamics at play in the act of viewing art. His paintings are not just depictions of the human form but are explorations of the rich and intricate relationship between artist, subject, and viewer. Through his art, Crouch invites viewers to engage with the psychological and emotional layers that underpin the human experience.
